Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Better Than the First?

Uh… Yeah I’d say so.

What did you want me to like explain why I think this or something? Ok.

First off, I think Vol. 2 is funnier than the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Although Vol. 2 does rely a bit too much on the characters themselves just bursting into laughter at some of the silly stuff happening and a couple of times it did feel forced.

Vol. 2 does a much better job of actually fleshing out and exploring its characters, but that is much easier to do in a sequel since the audience is already familiar with the characters.  Never the less Vol. 2 actually goes in beyond the skin-deep level of the original GOTG movie. Particularly those not named Star-Lord. Honestly I was kind of disappointed with the development of Star-Lord as a character, or the lack thereof, and I wouldn’t say it’s Chris Pratt’s fault on that one though, just sort of weak writing. Rocket and Yondu got some awesome development though so if you liked either of those characters you’ll certainly enjoy Vol. 2 just for that.

Vol. 2 doesn’t do everything better though, the villain (‘s?) of this movie were really lackluster to me, especially compared to Ronan who I’ve recently come to think as one of the better Marvel villains. (not a high bar I know, but still.) Also the soundtrack for Vol. 2 isn’t as strong as the first movie, but that was a really high bar to try and get back to so I’m willing to forgive it.

This last bit isn’t based in real objectivity or anything but Baby Groot is so painfully adorable its out of control.

So yeah, I think Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is better than the first, have you seen it yet? If so do you agree with me? Am I delusional? You decide, but I hope you make some good choices, peace out.

What is there even to say about me? One thing is that the first time I sat down to write this I just gave an explanation of what this site is instead of talking about, ya know, me. I think that's a pretty good way to describe me, though. For the most part, I am not much more than the sum of all these random thoughts and stories I put up here. Maybe there's more, but that just means I need to write more here.
