Over the weekend I made a rather large purchase for myself. For the absurd price of $17.99, I got a 20 inch behemoth of a fan for my bedroom. You see, there must be something wrong with the ventilation in my room because everyday from about 11am to 4pm my room becomes a bloody sauna. This would be fine if I just lounged about with nothing but a towel on, but fortunately for everyone that isn’t my default outfit. I dealt with it in the past by either opening up the window and letting all the cold winter air in or by getting out of the apartment, but it’s spring now and I don’t have the cold winter air to remedy the situation. So a fan. I bought a fan because I like to be cool and not sweating to death all day.
Now I suppose I could have just made a maintenance request to my landlord and gotten somebody to come fix it, but it could take time for either someone to respond or for them to actually fix it, and look I’m down to drop a couple of pounds, but I don’t think sitting in a room and sweating is the way to do it. Besides it’s just so much easier to go out and buy a fan. Plus it’s a worthwhile investment, I mean it’s a fan. That’s something I’m gonna get value from until the day that it stops working, and if I’m not stupid about it that could be years, decades even. Really buying a fan is a smart and responsible investment for myself.
There is one minor problem with it though. The noise. The box said that this particular fan had three quiet settings. Couldn’t be more wrong. There is one kind of quiet setting and then two settings that are doing their best impersonations of 747’s. I guess technically off is a setting and that’s quiet as well. Ok two quiet “settings” and two obnoxiously loud settings. It’s not a huge issue since most of the time I have my headphones in and that blocks a good chunk of sound, but if I want to sit down and watch a movie or something that’s another story entirely. In case you weren’t aware, big emotional speeches lose some of their power when accompanied by a loud WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I’m still happy with my fan though. Later.
