I saw this whole Disney Pixar March Madness bracket stuff yesterday and I just couldn’t help but fill out a bracket myself. I mean this is pretty much right up my alley, I get to compare movies which I love, and I inevitably get to upset people when I don’t pick their favorite to win. That being said I do want to try and justify some of my choices on it.
Just a quick sidenote, I know there is a 64 man bracket floating around somewhere if anyone knows where I can get a blank one of those I’d be really appreciative.
So this was my bracket, Mulan came out to represent the Disney side and but it was Pixar and The Incredibles who brought the whole thing home for me. So I figure I’ll work my way through the left/Disney side then the right/Pixar and just go through what I thought were tougher choices or ones people are more likely to disagree with.
Why did I put Lilo & Stitch over the Lion King? There is absolutely no good reason for this. Lilo & Stitch is just a movie that really gets to me personally. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside and I just love it ok, still ain’t got nothin on my girl Mulan though.
Moana over Frozen? Really? Yeah man, cause Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Nuff said. Hercules over Aladdin? I just like the songs in Hercules better.
Moving over to the right I actually think most of the choices here are really straightforward. At least in the top right part of the bracket, the only tough call in that section was UP or Coco and while both are powerful movies, UP never quite reached the same visual level that Coco was on.
Down in the bottom right though is by far the hardest call. What monster put The Incredibles up against Wall-E in the first round? That’s just twisted. To me, either of those movies would have gone on to win the whole thing, but because of some absolute BS seeding, Wall-E has to go out in the first round alongside Toy Story 2, Brave and The Good Dinosaur when it’s clearly several tiers above those movies.
Aight that’s about all I got right now. Let me know how I totally got everything wrong, Y’all know I’m always down to argue about movies. Later.
