Casey Neistat. Vlogger extraordinaire, boosted board fanboy, CNN dropout and the perennial golden boy of YouTube has started a new series on his channel this past week and I have to say I’m really intrigued by it.
It’s called 368, (hence my title) and it’s in some sense an extension of his vlogging content with the exception that rather than focusing on his own life, 368 is supposed to be centered around an office space. Specifically Casey’s own office space. The goal is to over the course of a 500 episode series develop the area into a hub of creativity and video making for people all over New York City.
It’s actually crazy ambitious, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t excited to see what happens. The first week of episodes are in and at the moment I’m definitely enjoying them. If I were to be extra whiny about it I’d say that these episodes do feel a bit too much like his vlogging content so far, but in all fairness to him he pointed out that the initial construction/renovation of the 368 space has been delayed in order to ensure all the proper permits are in place. So rather than just delaying the start of the series for a week, I’d say it’s way smarter to just allow this new project to kind of retread some old ground until things get going.
I don’t really have a lot else to say about it right now. It’s a big ambitious project that I, as a viewer, am excited to see unfold. Also, this is my favorite episode of the week.
Why is it my favorite? Because thus far it feels like the one that really gets to the heart of what Casey wants 368 to be. He wants to have a big space where he can have other creative people he wants to work with come in and just do whatever comes to mind. That’s the kind of stuff I want to see on YouTube. What about you?
