Movie Roundup: Looking Ahead

If it wasn’t obvious from my last post detailing all the ways I wasted time last week, let me just say that I’ve fallen behind on my obsessive moviegoing and therefore don’t have much information to make a roundup for this week. So instead and since the summer movie season is finally upon us (BLOCKBUSTERS HOOOOOOO!) I’ll point a few movies out that I’m really looking forward to, and just to spice the clickbaityness up I’ll even let you know that #2 will surprise you!

#1: Hotel Artemis

Secret hospital for criminals? That’s a premise I can get down with. Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown,  Jeff Goldblum, Dave Bautista, Charlie Day, Zachary Quinto, Sofia Boutella? I’m super down with this. I’m virtually guaranteeing that this will be the movie I geek out about and any other film nerds you know will whine about how it was robbed when it inevitably wins 0 Oscars.

#2: Mama Mia! Here We Go Again.

Get off my back! I’m allowed to like whatever movie I want to! I’ll freely admit that the first Mamma Mia is a genuine guilty pleasure of mine. It’s fun, it’s romantic and best of all it has Pierce Brosnan singing super awkwardly. I can only hope that there is another healthy dose of his singing in its sequel. Also what kind of crazy ego boost must it have been for Lily James when they told her they wanted her to play a young Meryl Streep? I would imagine it was ginormous.

#3: Incredibles 2

Hot take folks, but there is a good chance that The Incredibles is the best superhero movie made to date and now we are being blessed with another installment of the Parr family. Even if the first Incredibles wasn’t as good as it was I’d still be hyped for this movie just because I’m a little Pixar fanboy/shill at my core. Aren’t we all though?

Wait! I’ve been way too positive in this post only talking about things I like, how will I upset people and feed my need to ruin people’s day?

I know! I’ll point out a movie that I think is going to really suck as well!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdon:

Come on, what in the name of all that is good is even going on in this trailer? It feels like it’s advertising three different movies and none of them look good. Chris Pratt will do Chris Pratt stuff so I guess that’ll probably be fun though. Everything else about it looks painfully mediocre though.
