The Nature of Love

So there’s this song that I’ve been listening to a bunch for a little while now. It’s called The Nature of Love and it’s by Sinitus Tempo, (click the link to listen to it, I recommend you do while you read it because I’m super pretentious and think it might affect how you perceive what I’m saying) I have absolutely no idea how to define his music in terms of genre, but that probably has more to do with my lack of knowledge when it comes to music than him having a mind-bending sound that defies common conventions of what…

Life Lessons from WoW: Battle for Attention

It’s been a few weeks since Blizzard released the newest addition to their flagship title and my favourite game of all time; World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. It’s a really good expansion, there are endless tides of content for players to participate in both casual and hardcore, the quest lines are not only fun and interesting but actually expand the story of the Warcraft universe in ways that don’t make you want to slam your head into the table like most Blizzard writing does. Don’t get me wrong, some of it is still really cringy and feels like Blizzard…

New (School) Year, New Me

It’s a new semester for me so I wanted to take a quick moment to look back on my summer in writing to reflect and then perhaps even look a little bit forward to speculate on what I’m hoping to accomplish over the next few months, does that sound good? Not that it even matters if you agree this is just what’s happening. I’m really trying to be polite though. Ok so if I’m being honest, I actually liked most of the writing I did over the summer, which is kind of surprising because normally I hate everything I write…

Change My Mind

Folks, I’m not above admitting I’m wrong. Not terribly long ago I wrote a post where I railed against sweatpants. I said they had no place in the public eye and that unless you’re lounging at home with no intent to leave the house you shouldn’t be wearing them. I was wrong about that. Kind of. I still loathe those big baggy grey sweats that absolutely no one has ever looked good in. However, I have since written that post purchased a couple of pairs of sleeker athletic sweats for my job and I’ve become a bit of a convert….

The Happytime Murders

So the Happytime Murders was released in theatres this weekend and I saw it. Oof. This movie was just plain old frustrating to watch. My personal takeaway from this movie is how utterly unrefined it was. And not just in the fact that it takes the idea of a raunchy comedy and leans heavily into it like so much that it was the only thing they marketed about it, but it felt like every joke and story point never made it past a first draft. Like something would get suggested by the writers and at no point did anyone ask,…

Personality

Boy oh boy was it a slow day at work today. So slow that I opted to take one of those Myers-Briggs personality tests, even though I’m pretty sure I read somewhere about the actual science of this being pretty dubious at best like it’s little better than those quizzes in magazines, but we all gotta find ways to categorize each other don’t we? As it turns out I’m INFP or “The Mediator”. Sure. What secrets about my personality does this reveal though? What does that say about me? (told you it’s just like a magazine quiz!) Let’s see… I’m…
