Multiverse Implications of the New Mulan Movie?

Yesterday I spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about Mulan. Not the classic animated film from 1992, but rather the upcoming live-action remake due out in 2020. (That’s about the only thing I’m looking forward to in 2020) I’m not all that concerned about whether it’s going to be good or not, frankly I can sum up how I feel about nearly all the new Disney remakes with an emphatic “meh”, and I just don’t see that trend reversing itself anytime soon. I’m much more interested in the fact that out of all the new Disney remakes, Mulan looks…

Mission Impossible: Catch Up

In just under two weeks the newest Mission Impossible movie will arrive and in preparation for this movie, I have a confession to make. I’ve never seen a Mission Impossible movie from front to back. Ever. Not once in my life have I started one of these movies and then some 2 hours later arrived at the end. I’ve seen chunks of most of them. They seem entertaining enough, Tom Cruise is obviously a pretty popular guy, and I’m a big fan of spy movies. There really isn’t a good reason for why I haven’t watched them, other than the overwhelming…

Screaming the Anime aka Attack on Titan Season 2

I’m a big fan of binging through shows, it’s why I don’t really like watching shows during their season. I hate the waiting week by week to get another fraction of the story I’m being told. Maybe that’s just because I’m spoiled by all the movies I watch that have a beginning, middle and an end all in a single sitting. (Except you Sicario 2, you’re ending was lame and I’ll get around to writing why at some point) I just really don’t like to be left hanging so whenever possible I binge through series or at the very least…

Minor Oddities

It’s summertime in Provo which means that there is a horde of students searching for a place to live in the fall, and up until recently, I was among them. Thankfully I’ve secured an apartment for the upcoming year and won’t have to become homeless. That’s not at all what I wanted to talk about today though, but I needed to give some context for why and how I stumbled on the video I want to talk about. Spoilers there’s a video I saw and I wanted to talk about it. Here it is. The actual contents of the video…

Hollywood Here I Come

Fun fact: Last week I got to act in a movie. Not a major blockbuster obviously, but in a student film directed by a friend of mine, Sam. “But Jonny, you have like 0 acting experience! Why would anyone seek you out for their movie?” Well, I happened to be available. Right place right time sort of thing. The actor Sam had previously asked to play the role had dropped out on short notice or something like that, I didn’t get a full briefing on what happened and needing to fill the role quickly Sam contacted me and I readily…

The Worst Movie That I Love to Death.

Over the weekend I applied a Windows update to my computer that basically broke everything and eventually led to me being forced to do a factory reset on my computer. This was enormously frustrating (why do you force these updates on my Microsoft?) but that’s not what I want to talk about today. That was just to set a context for why over the weekend I went back and re watched Romeo and Juliet. (the 1996 one with Leonardo DiCaprio, cross dressing and everyone screaming their lines.) I needed something to do whilst I reset all the stuff on my…
