ye

Aight so back on Friday Kayne West dropped his new album “ye” and I’ve listened to is front to back like 6 or 7 times now and I’m proud to announce that I friggin love this thing. It’s whacky and at times all over the place but it’s genuine and Kayne continues to prove that he just an outstanding producer.  Since it’s a short album at only 7 songs I feel like I can just go through each one and give my thoughts. I Thought About Killing You: I really like that through the first half of the song all…

Kero Kero Bonito

I’m gonna be honest. I forgot about posting today. I don’t really have anything. So I’ll just recommend you check out this artist, Kero Kero Bonito. Particularly the album Bonito Generation. A friend of mine recommended it to me and it’s just a joyous “boppy” listen. Great for driving. But yeah that’s it, check it out.

Car Trips

Aight so I’m heading up to Canada for my sister’s wedding about a week from now and it’s a 12 hour drive each way so I’m staring down the barrel of 24 hours of being cooped up in my car. I’m gonna need some stuff to listen to during that time. Normally I just make long playlists myself and listen to that, but lately, I’ve found that endlessly listening to music is not really all that enjoyable and therefore I really haven’t been finding anything new to listen to. It’s not like I can just listen to the same stuff…

blonde

At least once a month since like October of 2016, I’ve found myself listening to Frank Ocean’s album blonde in its entirety. It’s just one of those albums that I feel like I’ll never fully get over, and that is a really good thing. It’s an outstanding album that sounds so unique to me that I don’t know if anything could ever replace it. I don’t know that anything will ever do what blonde does as well as it does. blonde makes me feel nostalgic, relaxed, remorseful, inspired, guilty, liberated, and at peace all in a single album. It’s such…

Throwback Thursday

I wanted to write today about some of the music that I’ve been listening to as it is the social media custom to talk about throwbacks on Thursday. I had two choices for groups to talk about. First was Foreigner, I have no idea why in the past week or so I’ve felt the impulse to listen to so much Foreigner, but they’re a great freaking band so it’s all good. That isn’t the group I’m gonna talk about though. (sorry dad) Instead I want to talk about Crystal Castles. If I were to sum up what it’s like to…

When “Style Over Substance” Works: Baby Driver

Trying to figure out just how to talk about Edgar Wright’s newest film, Baby Driver has proven to be harder for me than I though. I’ve gone through around five separate drafts that each go in different directions. For those of you who are unaware, Edgar Wright is a British filmmaker most notably known for what is known as the Cornetto trilogy including Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and At World’s End. He also directed the cult classic Scott Pilgrim VS The World and  just released a new film titled Baby Driver. Wait It just hit me. Ya know…

Ayo it’s Father’s Day.

Since I made a write-up for Mother’s day it would be pretty unfair of me to not say do the same for Father’s day right? The trick of it all will be actually writing something catchy enough that he’ll actually read it. Not that he typically ignores me, just between his three grand-daughters it can be difficult to move his attention to anything else. Golfing stuff usually works. You know what one of the things my dad taught me that I don’t think I bring up nearly enough? Problem solving. I remember countless weekends growing up spent not frolicking about…
