Life Lessons from WoW: Battle for Attention

It’s been a few weeks since Blizzard released the newest addition to their flagship title and my favourite game of all time; World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. It’s a really good expansion, there are endless tides of content for players to participate in both casual and hardcore, the quest lines are not only fun and interesting but actually expand the story of the Warcraft universe in ways that don’t make you want to slam your head into the table like most Blizzard writing does. Don’t get me wrong, some of it is still really cringy and feels like Blizzard…

New (School) Year, New Me

It’s a new semester for me so I wanted to take a quick moment to look back on my summer in writing to reflect and then perhaps even look a little bit forward to speculate on what I’m hoping to accomplish over the next few months, does that sound good? Not that it even matters if you agree this is just what’s happening. I’m really trying to be polite though. Ok so if I’m being honest, I actually liked most of the writing I did over the summer, which is kind of surprising because normally I hate everything I write…

The Dumpster

Ok, so I sat down yesterday to start writing out the final post looking back at my 8 months with MoviePass. I was planning on talking about the 8 worst movies I saw in that time, but as I started working through it became really clear to me that I only wanted to talk about one of these movies. So that’s what I’m gonna do, just keep in mind that while I’m only specifically talking about one movie, there are 7 others that I feel just as much contempt, disappointment, and anger towards. So Trek: The Movie, what a mess….

The New MoviePass

I’ve stated like a hundred billion times that I have a MoviePass and I love it, it’s an absolutely insane value for someone that goes to as many movies as I do. I also believe that unless something dramatic happens MoviePass will soon run out of money and cease to exist. The folks over at MoviePass also seem to believe this as they recently announced some upcoming changes to the service. Let’s go over them quickly because while most of this is nice and convenient there’s one that sticks out like a sore thumb to me. I’ll start with what…

Spoilers!

It’s been less than a week people. Less than one week since Avengers: Infinity War was released in the US and yet I’m still seeing people pretty causally dropping spoilers. This really bothers me even though I was lucky enough to dodge all spoilers before going to see the movie. It just seems pretty rude to me though. Like, don’t you want everyone to be able to have the same experience that you had watching the movie? Don’t you realize that just posting on FaceBook comments about potential character reveals can really sour the movie for people who didn’t rush…
